The editors at US News & World Report recently released their list of the Best Diesel Trucks of 2020, which showcases the models with powerful high-torque engine and exceptional diesel fuel economy. Of course, the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 and the 2020 Silverado HD made the shortlist. Both come with exceptional towing and capabilities, and they’ll also save you money at the pump.

The 2020 Silverado 1500 offers up to 9,300 pounds in maximum towing capacity, in part thanks to the 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine, which generates 277 horsepower and a whopping 460 lb-ft of torque. This dynamo is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and this powertrain has aluminum build, low-pressure exhaust-gas recirculation and air-to-liquid intercooling.

“The Silverado was already a good choice, with a good combination of ride and handling for a pickup, along with ample passenger room,” writes Jim Travers at U.S. News & World Report.

The Silverado HD models, including the 2500HD and 3500HD, come with even more performance. These models have a massive 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine, which generates 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. With the proper configuration, the 3500HD will tow up to 35,500 pounds. You’ll also find several driver-assist technologies to optimize safety and performance, making the Silverado HD the perfect mix of brains and brawn.
