If buying American-made products are important to you, your next vehicle should be from General Motors. In recent studies by Cars.com and the American University Kogod School of Business, GM vehicles rank among the most American-made in the automotive industry.
In the Cars.com American-Made Index, nine GM vehicles were included in the top 25 models. This was more than any other automaker. The top-ranked GM model was the Chevrolet Corvette, which came in eighth.
For this study, Cars.com considers the final assembly location, percentage of U.S. and Canadian parts, country of origin for engine and transmission components, and how many U.S. manufacturing jobs the company provides.
The Made in America Auto Index from the Kogod School of Business considers where major components are produced, the final assembly location, and how much an automaker contributes to the local economy with domestic content.
In this study, 10 GM models were in the top 25 including the Chevrolet Camaro with an automatic transmission in second place. The third-place spot is a three-way tie that includes the Corvette and Colorado.
With these two studies, it is clear that General Motors is dedicated to supporting American workers and the American people by producing some of the most American-made vehicles in the country.
