With the auction of the world’s first retail 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the 70th Anniversary Edition, Chevrolet has secured $3.6 million to support military families through Operation Homefront.
This Corvette is one of the most powerful V8 models ever made, and was purchased by Rick Hendrick, owner of the decorated NASCAR Cup Series champion Hendrick Motorsports as well as chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. Fittingly for a car such as this, retired racer Oliver Gavin drove it onto the auction block.
The proceeds from this auction are going to Operation Homefront, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting military families, helping with things such as housing, caregiver support, and food and utility assistance. Over the course of its operation, it has housed hundreds of veterans and their families and given them millions in financial relief.
“It’s truly a privilege to support our military members and their families through Operation Homefront,” said Chevrolet vice president, Steve Hill. “Proceeds from the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 will benefit many U.S. military families across the country who have done so much to serve our country.”
Chevrolet’s Corvette auction is just the latest donation Chevrolet has given Operation Homefront. Since 2017, the brand has also donated several Silverado trucks to the nonprofit to use at its offices, in addition to monetary support.
