Buick offers a variety of SUVs in its lineup, including the Encore and Encore GX. If you’ve ever wondered what the differences were between these two models, we’ve got the details you need below.
The most noticeable difference between the Encore and Encore GX is their styling. Both are subcompact crossovers, but the Encore’s design is smoother and rounder than the GX. The Encore GX strikes a sportier stance with sharp cuts in the doors and a less sloping front end.
The Encore and Encore GX are similarly sized, but the Encore is slightly smaller than the GX. The GX is a few inches longer and wider. It also offers 50.2 cubic feet of cargo space compared to the Encore’s 48.4 cubic feet.
The 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine on the Encore and the ECOTEC 1.2-liter turbo four-cylinder on the GX both get 155 horsepower and almost exactly the same torque. But the ECOTEC technology of the GX’s engine allows it to achieve 30 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, compared to 24 mpg in the city for the Encore.
The Encore GX is a little more expensive than the Encore, and part of that increase is the extra tech that you get in the cabin. The GX has an 8-inch infotainment system whereas the Encore has a 7-inch system. Additionally, the GX offers lumbar support in the front driver seat, which the Encore doesn’t include.
