Upon first glance, the teaser page for the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Supercar that will debut next week at the 2014 North American International Auto Show doesn’t seem too out of the ordinary. It tells you pretty much everything Chevrolet wants you to know: “Coming January 13, 2014 – 9:30 a.m. EST.” There’s a dormant media player box that outlines next week’s presser, which will feature a special event that begins at 9:30 prior to the big reveal at 10 a.m. However, as the astute writers of Jalopnik discovered, not everything is about a website’s content: sometimes, it’s the meta description that really matters.
A reader pointed out to them early on Tuesday that a Google search of “Chevrolet Z06 Supercar Reveal” would bring up the aforementioned teaser site as the first result. The most interesting aspect of this, however, was the meta description appearing beneath the link to the page. According to Jalopnik’s scoop, it read as follows:
“With 620 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is the most advanced Corvette ever made. Read more about Chevy’s supercar here.”
So there you have it: the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Supercar will be able to produce 620 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, which sounds pretty burly to even the most well-versed Corvette enthusiasts among us here at Suski Chevrolet.
Despite the cat already being out of the bag, Chevrolet 2015 Corvette Z06 was quick to cover their tracks and change the meta data to the following:
Chevrolet clearly is not aware that once something lives on the internet, there is no hiding it. Isn’t that right, every person who tweeted really stupid things in 2013?
