There are certain things you never want to be without if you wind up stranded in your car. Because it is important to switch the items in your car’s emergency kit depending on the season, here is a list of things to keep in your car during the hot summer months:
- A handheld fan and umbrella. Get yourself a decent a handheld fan and make sure you keep extra batteries in the car. They might not seem to do much, but having air flow can make a huge difference in comfort level. It’s also a good idea to have an umbrella to block out the sun.
- A case of bottled water and nonperishable food. You need to stay hydrated in the heat, and you can pour water on yourself to cool off. Food is also important, so you should keep healthy nonperishable items like granola bars.
- Extra fluids for your car. For your car’s health, make sure you have plenty of coolant in the trunk, since cars overheat more easily in the summer. A can of Fix-a-Flat is also a handy thing to have so you won’t be sitting on the side of the highway in the hot sun all day.
